Finance Analyst

Role overview

RAC is looking for a Finance Analyst to join its Roadside Operations Finance team and help strengthen performance reporting for a vital part of the business. This is a practical, high-energy role where you will turn data into insight that supports both operational and commercial decisions.

You will work closely with Finance Business Partners and colleagues across Operations, contributing to better cost management, cleaner data, and improved reporting methods. The role goes beyond routine reporting: it also focuses on streamlining finance processes through automation, simplification, and stronger analysis.

What you will do

You will help improve reporting efficiency by spotting process gaps and suggesting better ways of working. You will also support the automation and simplification of existing reports while improving the consistency and quality of the underlying data.

On the reporting and control side, you will prepare accurate outputs covering Roadside costs and key performance indicators, assist with month-end close tasks such as reconciliations and controls, and help ensure all financial data meets governance and accuracy standards.

In planning and analysis, you will review cost performance and the key drivers behind operational results, contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, and build insight that helps the business make informed decisions.

You will also work in a partnering capacity, supporting Finance Business Partners with analysis and reporting, building strong relationships with operational stakeholders, and presenting financial information in a clear and concise way.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will bring advanced Excel capability, including financial modelling and data analysis, together with experience handling large datasets and reporting tools such as Power BI, Power Query, or Alteryx. A solid understanding of financial reporting, controls, and core finance processes is important, as is experience in a busy finance environment.

You should be able to manage deadlines, organise your workload effectively, and work with strong attention to detail. The role also calls for analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, clear communication, commercial awareness, and confidence in building relationships and influencing stakeholders. A proactive approach and a mindset focused on continuous improvement will be valuable.

Experience and qualifications

You need at least 3 years of experience in a finance function within a fast-paced environment. Studying toward ACA, ACCA, or CIMA is preferred, though it is not mandatory.

Location and working pattern

This is a hybrid position with an expectation to be in the Bescot, Walsall office 2 days each week. The salary is aligned with market rates and experience.
