Description de l'emploi
Programme Overview
This role is offered through the Alpha Specialist Training Programme (ASTP), a fully funded career pathway built to help entrants start a cybersecurity career. It is designed for people who are fresh out of school or considering a switch into the field, and it combines practical training, recognised certifications, and a planned placement into cybersecurity work.
Training Approach
The programme is delivered face to face and focuses on practical, expert-led learning. Participants are trained in core cybersecurity areas such as cyber defence, incident handling, threat intelligence, and offensive security, with an emphasis on situations that mirror real operational environments in both government and private organisations.
Possible Deployment Roles
After completing the training, placement may be into one of several cybersecurity functions depending on aptitude, interest, and hiring partner requirements. Potential destinations include roles such as:
- Cybersecurity Analyst
- Incident Responder
- Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst
- Penetration Tester
- Cybersecurity Engineer or Architect
- Cybersecurity Solutions Specialist
Learning Outcomes and Work Exposure
Participants will develop the ability to identify, stop, and respond to cyber threats. The programme provides practical exposure to tools including Splunk, Wireshark, Metasploit, and Sysinternals Suite, along with a working understanding of frameworks and standards such as MITRE ATT&CK, OWASP Top 10, and NIST. Training also includes simulations, case-based exercises, preparation for certifications like GCIH and OSCP, and ongoing mentoring plus career guidance.
Candidate Profile
No prior background in IT or cybersecurity is required. The programme is looking for applicants who are genuinely interested in technology and digital security, can think through problems calmly, adapt quickly, communicate well, and work effectively with others.
Training, Allowance, and Commitment
Successful candidates will complete a 20-week on-the-job training period that is fully sponsored and includes an allowance. After training, participants are expected to move into full-time deployment for 3 years.
