Role overview

This role focuses on shaping and delivering architectural solutions for new retail outlets, store expansions, refurbishments, and adaptive reuse initiatives across the business portfolio. The architect will ensure that each design is practical, visually strong, compliant with regulations, delivered within budget, and aligned with brand identity while supporting smooth construction execution.

Design development and concept creation

• Develop and showcase early-stage and detailed architectural concepts, layout options, and feasibility assessments.
• Work closely with internal brand teams and project partners to convert operational needs into effective design outcomes.
• Use AutoCAD, Revit, and similar tools to produce 2D/3D layouts, visualizations, and architectural drawings.

Project coordination and documentation

• Coordinate architectural requirements with MEP, structural, and interior design teams to keep all project elements aligned.
• Prepare and submit planning packages, tender documentation, and construction drawings in line with company and regulatory standards.
• Maintain clear records of specifications, material selections, and finishes that reflect brand standards.

Budget, compliance, and risk control

• Track design-related budgets and ensure solutions remain within cost and schedule targets without lowering design quality.
• Keep designs compliant with local building regulations, health and safety rules, accessibility standards, and environmental requirements.
• Spot and address design risks during both the design and construction stages.

Construction and site support

• Carry out site inspections to confirm that construction matches the approved design and to resolve any gaps between drawings and execution.
• Support project managers and contractors in understanding drawings and solving architectural issues on site.
• Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, and material proposals to verify compliance with design intent.

Stakeholder collaboration

• Liaise with brand principals, project managers, senior designers, and vendors to communicate design goals and ensure alignment.
• Present concepts and proposals to senior management for approvals and take part in value engineering and optimization discussions.
• Contribute to post-project reviews by sharing lessons learned and helping improve design processes.

Experience and qualifications

The preferred background includes a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from a recognized institution, with professional registration considered an advantage. The role calls for more than 5 years of progressive architectural design experience, ideally gained in retail, commercial, or mixed-use projects. Strong knowledge of building codes, retail planning, construction methods, and local authority procedures is important, along with proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and related design software.
