Role overview
South Staffordshire Water, operating as Cambridge Water and South Staffs Water across two regulated water-only regions, is seeking a Water Quality Customer Sampler based in Walsall. The organisation serves nearly 1.3 million people, with a supply area extending from Ashbourne in the north to Halesowen in the south, and from Burton-on-Trent in the east to Kinver in the west.
This position is field-based and involves lone working in all weather conditions. The role is central to protecting public health by gathering and checking water samples from treatment sites and customer locations, helping to maintain water safety and quality across the network.

Key duties
- Take water samples from treatment works, reservoirs, and customer premises
- Perform chlorine checks on site
- Enter samples into the laboratory management system
- Record findings accurately and complete quality control verification steps
- Work in line with strict quality procedures and documentation standards
Candidate profile
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable using computer systems to log and manage information
- Strong focus on accuracy and adherence to process
- Self-motivated approach suited to lone field work
- Full, valid UK driving licence, with a company vehicle supplied
- GCSEs or equivalent are required; experience in a similar area would be an advantage
