Role overview
Qatar Airways is hiring a Technical Lead to join its IT team in Doha. This position focuses on shaping dependable, scalable, and high-performing technology solutions that align with business needs. The role covers solution architecture, governance, quality assurance, and end-to-end delivery across design, build, test, and release stages.
The successful candidate will work with internal teams and external partners to develop reliable applications, improve system performance, and keep solutions aligned with security, quality, and governance requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Create and deliver scalable, resilient, and sustainable IT solutions that support business goals and operational efficiency.
- Protect the technical soundness of solution designs by identifying reusable components and avoiding repeated build efforts.
- Develop and unit test complex modules in custom-built development environments.
- Draft, review, and refine Functional Specifications, Interface Specifications, and Non-Functional Requirements.
- Prepare and validate High-Level Design and Low-Level Design documents in line with QRIT Software Governance Integration standards.
- Oversee Non-Functional Requirement testing and participate in QA and unit test case reviews for assigned systems.
- Ensure quality checks are completed properly, including NFR testing and formal quality reviews where needed.
- Carry out proactive performance tuning in production systems to resolve slow transactions, application faults, and query performance issues.
- Track and help reduce technical debt associated with assigned business applications through planned remediation.
- Follow QRIT policy and required standards when choosing solution components and designing technical solutions.
- Support the creation of service level agreements and service guarantees, and assist with release note preparation before production deployment.
- Investigate production incidents, identify root causes, and ensure timely corrective fixes.
- Confirm that solution fixes are fully tested and moved through release management processes correctly.
- Contribute to user interface and user experience development based on business requirements.
- Work with third-party vendors and internal/external stakeholders to design and implement strong application interfaces and integrations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification, along with at least 4 years of job-related experience.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience with a degree, or 5 years without a degree.
- Engineering or Computer Science education is preferred.
- Experience in the airline industry will be considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and cloud services is preferred.
- Background in solution design and performance management is preferred.
- Proven ability to introduce innovative technologies or solutions.
- Capacity to learn and adapt to emerging technologies.
- Working familiarity with AI services and capabilities.
- Strong technical understanding across application, data, business, and infrastructure domains.
- Practical knowledge of relevant frameworks, tools, and technologies.
- Good analytical and troubleshooting ability.
- Sound understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and Software Quality Assurance practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.
