About Bendigo Bank

Bendigo Bank describes itself as more than a traditional bank and emphasises a workplace where employees are expected to contribute meaningfully rather than simply hold a role. The organisation highlights a shared commitment to improving banking outcomes for customers, communities and the business.

About the Team

The Risk and Compliance function is responsible for helping the Group manage risks within its assigned areas, consistent with the Group’s risk appetite. It also supports the business by promoting a strong risk-management mindset and by putting the right processes and practices in place to meet compliance duties.

About the Role

As Senior Manager - Compliance, reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance Services, you will play a key leadership role in driving the central first-line compliance function. The position focuses on ensuring business divisions align with relevant legal, regulatory and policy requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead a high-quality, service-oriented compliance approach while building capability across the first-line business.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance policies and standards are applied consistently.
  • Advise the first-line business on how obligations should be interpreted and how effective controls should be implemented.
  • Oversee and track first-line compliance activities, including core processes that support consistent compliance practices across divisions.
  • Work alongside 2LOA to strengthen compliance capability across the organisation.
  • Evaluate the impact of regulatory change and support implementation in the first line.
  • Prepare regulatory responses and notifications, including ASIC breach reporting.
  • Collaborate with other Divisional Risk teams, business units and Group Regulatory Compliance to strengthen the organisation’s risk and compliance culture.

Location and Employment

This is a permanent, full-time role based at one of the corporate offices, with Adelaide identified as the preferred location. Melbourne, Bendigo and Sydney are also mentioned as possible office locations.

About You

The ideal candidate will bring strong stakeholder engagement skills, the ability to lead compliance activities end to end, and a background in banking or financial services regulation. You should be comfortable influencing senior leaders, boards and non-compliance audiences, while translating complex matters into clear and practical guidance.

Additional Requirements

  • Proven ability to foster collaboration across teams and create opportunities for joint working.
  • Experience partnering with a broad range of stakeholders, including senior executives, boards and non-compliance professionals, to influence decisions and drive behavioural change.
  • Track record of delivering strong compliance outcomes that meet the expectations of executives, boards, customers and other key stakeholders.
  • Experience handling end-to-end compliance work, including identifying, interpreting and operationalising new or changed legislative or regulatory obligations.
  • Tertiary qualifications in law, finance or a business-related discipline are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of banking and financial services regulations, legislation and processes.
  • Experience leading and managing staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong influencing ability and the capacity to explain complex issues clearly.
  • Strong relationship management and collaboration skills focused on organisational outcomes.
  • Highly developed problem-solving ability and an inquisitive, motivated approach.

Benefits

  • Flexible work options designed to support different needs, including hybrid working, flexible hours, a compressed work week and job-sharing.
  • Health and wellbeing support such as discounted gym memberships, private health insurance options and an Employee Assistance Program for employees and their immediate family members.
  • Access to learning and development through the organisation’s corporate university, BEN U, or an external provider of your choice.

Diversity and Support

The organisation states that a diverse workforce and inclusive culture are important to its success. It encourages applications from people who bring diverse perspectives and supports reasonable adjustments for candidates with illness, injury or disability during the selection process.

Interested candidates are asked to submit a CV and cover letter online. Applications close on Tuesday 30 June 2026.
