Role Overview
This remote contract opportunity is for an illustrator to create a set of 20 to 30 line drawings for a practical handbook aimed at everyday dog owners. The artwork should present dog anatomy clearly while remaining engaging and expressive. The project supports a science-based, positive-reinforcement approach to dog training and covers topics such as daily routines, canine body language, enrichment activities, and reference charts.
The ideal artist will combine accuracy with personality, showing a strong command of line work and a solid grasp of canine structure. The finished illustrations will help build a resource that encourages compassionate, fear-free dog care and training.
Responsibilities
- Create 20 to 30 clean and expressive dog illustrations with careful attention to anatomical correctness and visual personality.
- Work with the handbook author to ensure the visuals match the book’s science-led, positive training perspective.
- Convert written material into visuals that explain routines, body language signals, enrichment ideas, and chart-based references.
- Update artwork as needed based on feedback so the full set stays clear, consistent, and cohesive.
- Provide high-resolution digital files ready for both print and digital use.
- Track deadlines and keep communication active throughout the remote project.
Requirements
- Proven background in anatomical illustration, ideally involving dogs or other animals.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating line illustration ability, movement, and character expression.
- Familiarity with positive reinforcement and fear-free training methods is a strong advantage.
- Capability to turn scientific and behavioral ideas into visuals that are easy for a general audience to understand.
