Role overviewThis position is responsible for keeping the plant within normal operating conditions and supporting safe, reliable, and efficient performance during steady-state running, start-up, shutdown, and emergency situations. The role works through continuous monitoring of the DCS/PLC panel and strict adherence to operating procedures.Key responsibilitiesTrack and control panel and process values according to schedule, while keeping an eye on chemical usage and utility consumption.Ensure plant parameters stay inside permitted operating limits for safe and optimized operation, and react to alarms and abnormal deviations as per procedure.Watch parameter trends to spot early signs of trouble and inform the Shift In-charge so corrective action can be taken.Check equipment and pay attention to automated warning signals to identify the source and type of issues such as leakage or breakage.Carry out instructions received from the Shift In-charge through Shift Team Meetings and OMPRO instructions to improve plant performance.Record deviations in OMPRO and document the corrective measures taken.Raise maintenance requests for equipment breakdowns in coordination with field operators and the Shift In-charge.Prepare detailed shift logs in writing, including major parameter changes, events, actions taken, and follow-up items in the OMPRO logbook.Collect and document operating data, instrument readings, analysis results, and related records, and report any unusual conditions to the Shift In-charge.Coordinate shutdown and start-up activities through panel operation and communication with the field team.Access and use updated technical and process documentation from sources such as ReIMS, the intranet portal, and LIMS when needed.Complete tasks and activities assigned or configured in OMPRO in a timely manner.Respond to fire and gas alarms and act in line with the site Emergency Response Control Plan.Keep APC, RTO, optimizer, and similar systems under continuous observation and update them as applicable.Follow all relevant policies, procedures, SOPs, and instructions to ensure work is performed in a controlled and consistent manner.Support ongoing improvement of systems, processes, and procedures.EducationA Diploma or Engineering degree is required.ExperienceCandidates should have at least 3 years of experience in a process plant, specifically for BSC. Prior exposure to DCS operations is preferred.Desired knowledge and capabilitiesHands-on knowledge of DCS/PLC systems.Ability to use tools and systems such as OMPRO, SAP-IM, ELS, and ReIMS.Understanding of plant process technology.Strong awareness of safety practices such as permit-to-work, interlock bypass, and incident handling.Capability to manage emergencies effectively.Working knowledge of unit operations and material balance.Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.Good problem-solving and analytical ability.Ability to think and act effectively in difficult situations.Strong ethical conduct.Performance expectationsMaintain control over directly managed key operating parameters.Minimize the number of controllable operating parameters in alarm condition.Keep product and intermediate quality deviations during the shift low.Meet assigned OMPRO KPI targets, including HOTO duration and avoidance of unauthorized system overrides.Complete assigned tasks and routine work in line with operating procedures.Respond effectively to emergencies as per the site emergency response plan.Communicate effectively with shift team members in written and verbal form.Contribute improvement ideas and help implement them.Additional informationThis role may also require completion of any other work assigned by supervisory authority from time to time.
