The Opportunity
BlueScope Distribution is hiring an Operations Supervisor for its Hobart site in Tasmania. The distribution business provides steel and aluminium product supply, processing, and service solutions, helping customers across different industries deliver projects on schedule and to the required specifications.
This is a practical, team-focused role where you will guide an experienced warehouse team, lead day-to-day site operations, and help ensure products are shipped safely and on time. Safety for you, your team, and customers will be a constant priority.
The position follows a Monday to Friday schedule, typically from 6:00am to 2:30pm, supporting a healthy work-life balance. Key Responsibilities
- Direct and support warehouse operations to help achieve safe, timely customer deliveries.
- Work closely with team members on the floor to keep daily tasks and output on track.
- Spot opportunities to improve productivity, performance, and risk management.
- Promote and strengthen safety practices, and take the lead on change when hazards or improvement areas are identified.
- Coach, develop, and support the team so they can continue building capability and confidence.
About You
You are a safety-conscious leader who enjoys helping teams perform at their best. You should be comfortable translating business goals into clear, practical actions for the team and be willing to contribute directly in a busy warehouse or logistics setting.
Requirements
- Proven ability to motivate people and build strong, high-performing teams.
- Background in operations, warehousing, or logistics.
- Current LF class High Risk Work Licence, or a genuine willingness to obtain one.
- Ability to turn business objectives into clear tasks and outcomes for the team.
- Good working knowledge of common computer tools, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong commitment to your own safety and the wellbeing of others.
