Role overview

We are looking for an experienced Network Technician to help keep passive network infrastructure running smoothly, support upgrades, and assist with infrastructure deployments. The role focuses on structured cabling, field troubleshooting, site assessments, technical records, and support for both ongoing projects and event-based setups.

Key responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair UTP, fiber optic, multi-core, and LAN cabling systems.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on network cabling infrastructure to keep performance and reliability high.
  • Use standard industry tools and testing devices for installation, fault finding, and certification work.
  • Visit sites to perform inspections and surveys, then prepare assessments, reports, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Track and manage the inventory of network parts, materials, and equipment needed for installation and maintenance tasks.
  • Plan and implement cabling layouts and overlays for temporary and event-based network requirements.
  • Prepare and update network drawings, patching schedules, and patching matrices.
  • Handle mounting, patching, and connectivity work for active network devices.
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and support when needed.
  • Work closely with project teams and stakeholders to ensure delivery timelines are met.

Documentation and reporting

  • Maintain precise technical records, site inspection reports, BOQs, and maintenance logs.
  • Prepare inventory, maintenance, and network performance reports.
  • Keep detailed records of installation, troubleshooting, and support activities.
  • Explain technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in IT support and customer-facing technical roles.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar Network Technician or Network Infrastructure position.
  • Practical experience with structured cabling systems, passive network infrastructure, and network support operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Professional IT certifications are preferred, such as CISA or an equivalent recognized certification.
  • Strong working knowledge of UTP, fiber optic, multi-core, and LAN cabling installation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience mounting and patching active network devices across passive network infrastructure.
  • Ability to use cable testers, crimping tools, Fluke testers, OTDRs, and similar equipment.
  • Capability to design structured cabling layouts for permanent and temporary environments.
  • Experience with site surveys, inspections, and BOQ preparation.
  • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
