Role overview
KPMG is looking for a Manager to join its Strategy and Operations team in Melbourne. In this role, you will lead consulting assignments, help clients refine their strategic direction, improve business performance and execute complex change initiatives.
What you will do
- Take ownership of end-to-end delivery for strategy and operations projects, ensuring the final output meets client goals and quality expectations.
- Work with clients to clarify their vision, priorities and growth or transformation path.
- Develop business cases, including financial analysis, cost-benefit evaluation and prioritisation of investments.
- Guide the design and rollout of organisational and operational improvements such as process redesign, workforce planning and service delivery changes.
- Use structured project and program management practices to keep work on schedule, within scope and aligned to strategic objectives.
- Manage relationships with senior stakeholders and serve as a trusted advisor at executive level.
- Lead cross-functional teams, setting direction, coaching team members and supporting performance.
- Use research, stakeholder input and data analysis to shape practical strategic recommendations.
- Contribute to business development through proposals, client presentations and identifying new opportunities.
- Support team capability building through mentoring, coaching and involvement in internal initiatives and thought leadership.
What you bring
- 5 to 8 years of experience in management consulting or in a strategy, operations or transformation role.
- Proven ability to lead full consulting engagements or significant workstreams in complex programs.
- Strong strategic judgement and commercial thinking, with the ability to turn analysis into clear recommendations.
- Confidence working in ambiguous or complex environments using consulting frameworks and analysis.
- Experience managing senior stakeholders and building trusted client relationships.
- Background in leading and developing teams and encouraging collaboration and high performance.
- Exposure to continuous improvement methods such as Agile, Lean or Six Sigma.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including producing client-ready materials and executive presentations.
- Proactive, outcome-focused approach with a track record of delivering impact.
Qualifications
You should have tertiary qualifications in commerce, business, economics, public policy, technology or a related area. Postgraduate study such as an MBA, or relevant certifications, would be an advantage.
