Role Overview
The selected candidate will serve as a Lifeguard at Raffles Doha and Fairmont Doha, responsible for maintaining safety, awareness, and guest care across all swimming and recreational water areas. The role calls for constant vigilance, prompt response to incidents, and polished service delivery that reflects the standards of both brands.
You will help ensure that guests enjoy a secure and calm leisure environment by actively supervising aquatic areas, assisting guests with care, and responding professionally when situations arise. Your attention to detail, composed approach, and visible presence will support a premium pool experience built on confidence and peace of mind.
Key Responsibilities
The role includes the following duties:
- Keep uninterrupted watch over all pool and water recreation areas to ensure guest safety is maintained to premium brand standards.
- Regularly inspect aquatic areas, identify risks early, and act quickly in urgent situations or emergencies.
- Provide discreet, courteous, and reassuring guest assistance while maintaining a composed professional demeanor.
- Stay fully informed about pool facilities, operating practices, safety rules, and leisure services so guests can be guided accurately.
- Work in close coordination with Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Security, and Wellness teams to support a smooth and safe guest journey.
- Check that all rescue and safety equipment is available, well maintained, and compliant with required standards.
- Explain pool rules and safe-use guidelines to guests in a respectful, service-oriented manner.
- Handle guest issues or incidents efficiently and empathetically, ensuring proper escalation, documentation, and follow-up.
- Monitor water conditions, surroundings, and the overall appearance of the pool area to preserve safety and presentation standards.
- Prepare accurate incident records and other required documentation according to hotel policies and regulations.
- Protect guest confidentiality and consistently follow brand procedures and operational guidelines.
- Contribute to day-to-day operational tasks and help maintain an organized, team-focused leisure environment.
- Reflect the service philosophy of Raffles & Fairmont Doha through every guest interaction.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should bring the following:
- Experience as a Lifeguard, Pool Attendant, Recreation Attendant, or in a comparable role within a luxury hotel or premium leisure setting is preferred.
- Strong situational awareness and the ability to maintain continuous focus on guest safety in aquatic environments.
- Good spoken English; knowledge of additional languages is beneficial when serving an international clientele.
- Strong people skills, with a calm, confident, and approachable manner.
- The ability to communicate safety instructions clearly while maintaining a warm and polished service style.
- Comfort working in a busy, fast-moving leisure environment without losing attention to detail.
- Good physical condition and the ability to react quickly in emergency situations.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Recreation, Front Office, Security, and Engineering teams.
- Basic familiarity with pool operations, safety protocols, and facility upkeep standards is an advantage.
- A dependable, responsible attitude and commitment to safety and brand compliance.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays, based on operational needs.
