Role Summary

The GIS Analyst will contribute to client assignments and internal workflows on a remote contract basis. This position suits someone who enjoys practical GIS tasks, solving spatial problems, building polished deliverables, and handling a range of project types.

Key Work Areas

Typical work may include spatial analysis, organizing and cleaning geospatial datasets, producing maps and visual outputs, preparing client-ready layouts or reports, resolving ArcGIS Pro issues, supporting ArcGIS Online content, and documenting GIS processes.

Based on project requirements, the analyst may also work with drone mapping and remote sensing materials such as orthomosaics, raster datasets, LiDAR or point cloud outputs, elevation data, site maps, volumetric-style datasets, and other drone-derived GIS files. Drone flight experience is an advantage, though it is not mandatory.

The right person should be able to work on their own, communicate clearly, follow instructions carefully, and deliver professional-quality GIS work in a remote contract environment.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should have practical experience using GIS tools and workflows, especially ArcGIS Pro. They need a solid grasp of mapping, spatial analysis, geoprocessing, and geospatial data organization.

Candidates should be comfortable handling common GIS formats such as shapefiles, file geodatabases, feature classes, raster data, and hosted feature layers. A good understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and GIS data quality practices is also required.

Strong map-making ability is important, including creating clear layouts and visualizations for both technical and non-technical users. The role also calls for strong data management skills, such as cleaning, validating, organizing, and maintaining geospatial datasets.

Good written and verbal communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to work independently in a remote, project-based setting. A relevant background in GIS, geography, environmental science, planning, engineering, surveying, computer science, or a related discipline is preferred, or the equivalent in practical GIS experience.

Preferred Experience

Additional value will be given to candidates with experience in ArcGIS Online, web maps, dashboards, hosted feature layers, or Experience Builder.

Familiarity with Python, ArcPy, ModelBuilder, or ArcGIS Notebooks for GIS automation is also desirable. Experience with drone mapping data, orthomosaics, LiDAR, point clouds, DEMs, DSMs, contours, or photogrammetry outputs will be helpful.

Knowledge of tools such as Pix4D, DroneDeploy, Propeller, Site Scan, QGIS, Global Mapper, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D is a plus. The ability to prepare client-facing reports, documentation, map packages, or project summaries is also preferred.

Experience troubleshooting ArcGIS Pro issues, projection problems, data formatting issues, or workflow errors will be considered an advantage. Interest in practical GIS consulting, drone mapping workflows, spatial analysis, and client-focused delivery is welcome.
