Role overview

This full-time Field Engineer position is based in Ontario and reports to the Project Manager. The role sits within the Eastern Canada District, under the Field Operations department, with a focus on transportation work. As the lead engineer on the project, you will support safe, high-quality delivery and ensure engineering activities are handled professionally, accurately, and ethically.

What you will do

You will take ownership of contract administration, project planning and scheduling, and project reporting. In addition, you will advise project leadership on contractual, legal, and other project-related matters while helping keep field operations organized and compliant.

Field engineering duties

  • Interpret drawings and specifications for crews and field supervisors.
  • Carry out quantity measurements and calculate completed or installed work percentages.
  • Help prepare work plans and work packages.
  • Support field surveying and layout, including elevations, control points, and as-built information.
  • Compile and verify daily labor timesheets.
  • Help prepare Job Hazard Analyses.
  • Take part in safety reviews, toolbox talks, larger safety meetings, and safety training.
  • Arrange and coordinate material deliveries.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on site.
  • Oversee field operations.

Office engineering duties

  • Prepare material takeoffs using drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Complete basic engineering calculations and technical drafting for field support.
