Role overview

The Des Moines Buccaneers are looking for a resourceful, dependable, and imaginative gameday video intern to help capture season-long content during the 2026-27 season. This opportunity is well suited to a college student who wants practical experience in sports media, social content creation, and live event production.

Key responsibilities

• Record video coverage at every Buccaneers home game at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex.
• Film on-ice action, fan engagement moments, sponsor features, themed nights, and behind-the-scenes activity.
• Support the Digital Media Coordinator with content needs during game days.
• Produce game recaps and hype videos for posting across social channels during the season.
• Develop and present fresh content concepts for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X.
• Assist with footage for player spotlights, community appearances, and special projects when opportunities arise.
• Sort and submit raw video assets after each game.

Requirements

• Must be currently studying at a college or university, ideally in Sports Media, Digital Media, Communications, Film, or a similar discipline.
• Prior experience creating sports video content is required; hockey shooting experience is preferred.
• Owns a camera and the gear needed to capture professional-quality video.
• Must be available for all Des Moines Buccaneers home games, with the schedule mainly falling on evenings and weekends.
• Needs a solid grasp of current social media trends and content formats.
• Should be comfortable working under pressure, moving quickly, and hitting deadlines.
• Must be able to take initiative and work effectively both alone and as part of a team.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud tools such as Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and Photoshop, or similar editing software.
• Familiarity with hockey is beneficial, though not mandatory.
• Ability to contribute original content ideas throughout the season.
