Software Engineer, Frontend

Role overview

This role sits within Cisco’s next-generation AI-driven cloud management platform. The position focuses on building rich, high-performance user experiences in a modern microfrontend setup, while partnering with product, platform, and AI teams to deliver interfaces used by both internal and external users worldwide.

What you’ll do

• Create polished, accessible, and easy-to-use interfaces in a large React and TypeScript monorepo.
• Develop advanced frontend capabilities using microfrontend and Module Federation approaches.
• Work with backend, design, and platform teams to ship complete end-to-end solutions smoothly.
• Own and improve an Nx-based monorepo, keeping architectural rules intact and promoting engineering best practices.
• Build dependable unit and end-to-end test coverage with Jest, React Testing Library, and Playwright to support long-term quality.
• Improve frontend performance, add analytics tracking, and strengthen observability across the UI layer.
• Join design reviews, UI critique sessions, and cross-functional planning discussions.

Requirements

• 3 to 7 years of practical experience developing production-grade frontend applications.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of React 17/18+, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Experience with monorepos, ideally Nx, plus package managers such as pnpm or Yarn workspaces.
• Understanding of microfrontend architecture, Module Federation, and scalable frontend design.
• Background in component-led development, design systems, accessibility, and responsive interfaces.
• Experience with test automation tools such as Jest, RTL, and Playwright, along with CI/CD workflows.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort working in a fast-moving collaborative environment.

Preferred skills and exposure

• Working knowledge of Rspack, Webpack, or similar build tools.
• Familiarity with React Router v6/7, TanStack Table, or advanced UI interaction libraries such as Framer Motion and React DnD.
• Exposure to analytics or monitoring tools like Amplitude and Sentry.
• Comfort working with backend/REST APIs or GraphQL, or collaborating closely with backend engineers.
• Interest in building refined, scalable experiences with strong attention to performance and usability.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or contributing to shared monorepo tooling.
