Responsibilities

  • Run RFx activities and manage local negotiations within approved limits to secure the most favorable value for the business.
  • Build recurring purchasing reports and analysis to guide team planning and support strategic proposal preparation.
  • Own the purchase flow from receipt of the requisition through PO creation, release, tracking, and invoice processing.
  • Check that purchase orders are complete and accurate, including commodity codes, delivery addresses, supplier information, and any relevant notes.
  • Work with suppliers to confirm receipt of purchase orders, obtain delivery commitments, and pursue follow-up actions or expediting when needed.
  • Handle medium- and high-impact purchasing issues or disagreements and escalate them according to established procedures.
  • Meet weekly with internal project teams to review priorities and share updates on outstanding orders.
  • Align requisition priorities with project planning needs and broader industry requirements.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, tactical buyers, and other members of the procurement organization.
  • Assist with the adoption of improved SAP or other system capabilities that increase purchasing efficiency.
  • Ensure procurement work follows company rules, ISO quality requirements, and applicable defence-related regulatory obligations.
  • Apply ethical procurement practices consistently and report significant issues to the Supply Chain Manager or Category Buyers/Managers as appropriate.
  • Support broader department tasks as needed to help the team achieve its goals and objectives.
  • Follow procurement policies and procedures consistently in day-to-day work.
  • Contribute to monitoring and improving departmental KPIs using established internal best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Software, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Purchasing or financial certification, or at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a supply chain or procurement role.
  • At least 1 year of procurement or finance experience in the federal government, whether civilian, military, or contractor-based.
  • Prior experience in the defence industry.
  • Background in purchasing and familiarity with supplier process changes.
  • Experience using SAP or another ERP platform; related system experience may be considered trainable for SAP.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities effectively.
  • Eligibility for Canadian NATO Secret clearance and compliance with Controlled Goods/ITAR requirements.
