About the role
Acero Engineering Inc. is expanding its oil and gas facilities engineering business and is looking to hire one Process Designer for an 8-month contract in Calgary, Alberta. The company delivers engineering, procurement, and construction management support for facilities and pipelines, covering work from early concept studies through to plant start-up.
Its in-house capabilities include project management, process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control, project engineering, procurement, regulatory support, civil and structural engineering, and construction management.
What you will do
- Assist the process drafting team with preparing P&IDs and PFDs in MicroStation.
- Maintain line numbering, equipment identification, and instrument tags so records remain unique and free from duplication.
- Apply company standards when choosing insulation thickness.
- Understand how P&IDs should be represented across the overall process design.
- Work from the piping 3D model to support yellow-off requirements for P&IDs.
- Take on additional duties as needed.
Required background and experience
- A graduate of an Engineering Design and Drafting program or someone with a Process Piping Drafting Certificate.
- Hands-on experience with MicroStation.
- At least 6 years of experience preparing P&IDs.
- Oil sands exposure is an advantage, though not mandatory.
- Experience in an EPC environment, especially on oil and gas facility projects, is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Outlook.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- A collaborative attitude with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight client-driven deadlines when required.
