Role overview

This role sits within the Engineering & Facilities function at a W Hotels property in Dubai. The position is full-time and non-management, based on site at West Crescent, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

What you'll do

You will handle guest repair requests, coordinate with guests and customers to solve maintenance concerns, and support preventive upkeep across tools, kitchen equipment, mechanical room equipment, and other building systems. The job also involves carrying equipment, checking and operating shut-off valves, maintaining maintenance stock, and sharing daily work updates and issues with other shifts using approved communication tools and standards.

In addition, you will carry out surface preparation and painting work, complete minor drywall and wood trim repairs, replace light bulbs and A/C filters, and clean the work area thoroughly after repairs. The role includes basic troubleshooting and repair of plumbing, electrical components, guestroom items, and other equipment, as well as programming TVs, completing housekeeping and engineering inventory tasks, following lockout/tagout procedures, and helping with interior and exterior landscaping and irrigation repairs. You will also use basic computer systems for tasks such as entering air handler schedules and adjusting temperatures.

You are expected to follow all company, safety, and security procedures, report maintenance issues and hazards, complete required safety training and certifications, and store flammable materials properly. The role also requires a professional appearance, confidentiality, strong guest service, respectful communication, teamwork, and support for company quality standards.

Physical and workplace requirements

The position requires frequent movement, including climbing stairs, ramps, and ladders, reaching overhead and below the knees, and bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. You must be able to move, lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds without assistance, with heavier tasks done with help. Work-related information must be entered and located using computers, and other reasonable duties may be assigned as needed.

Preferred profile

A high school diploma or GED is preferred, along with some background in general maintenance and exterior/interior surface preparation and painting. Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is an advantage. No supervisory experience is required. A valid driver’s license is required.
