Overview
Valence Surface Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support finishing operations in West Springfield, MA. This role focuses on improving process efficiency, enhancing safety, strengthening quality, and reducing labor through better tooling, methods, and work instructions.
What you’ll do
- Develop, introduce, and refine tooling and process methods that lower labor needs while improving safety, cycle time, and quality across operations such as masking, sanding, painting, and demasking.
- Support production line setup and equipment oversight, including specifying, coordinating installation of, commissioning, and monitoring finishing equipment like tanks, rectifiers, fixtures, ovens, and hoists, while partnering with operations and maintenance on issues and repairs.
- Evaluate long-running product processes, identify opportunities to improve aids, tools, and templates, and make work more consistent and repeatable.
- Lead projects to achieve targets and meet deadlines.
- Work with planning to build clear, accurate work instructions for new and existing orders.
- Manage first article qualification to improve timing and process efficiency, confirm first-part acceptability, support pricing reviews, and ensure proper tooling and visual/process aids are in place.
- Coordinate with cross-functional team members and departments to support timely delivery and product objectives.
- Review production work instructions and update them when process changes are needed.
- Use standard problem-solving methods to identify root causes and drive effective corrective actions.
- Maintain document control for customer engineering records.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Experience and education
The preferred background for this position includes at least 5 years of engineering experience in chemical processing or a related industry. A bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or a closely related discipline is preferred.
Compensation and benefits
The listed pay range for this opportunity is $85,000 to $100,000 per year. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, long-term disability, an employee assistance program, a 401(k) plan with a 3% match, and holiday pay.
