Role overview

This position is focused on managing legal matters linked to labour and employment issues, with the goal of cutting down ongoing disputes and reducing the company’s litigation expense. The role works closely with HR business partners, external lawyers, and other key stakeholders to ensure labour-related cases are handled effectively across courts and authorities.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and execute legal plans for active labour disputes across different forums so that the number of cases and the cost of litigation are brought down.
  • Work with HRBPs, panel advocates, and other relevant teams to drive timely progress and favorable closure of labour matters before Labour Courts, Industrial Tribunals, High Courts, EPF/ESIC/Gratuity authorities, and through out-of-court settlements where suitable.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government and statutory bodies, to support labour-related legal actions.
  • Support HRBPs by explaining labour-law procedures, recent legal amendments, and disciplinary steps related to domestic enquiries; also conduct training sessions to strengthen their capability in labour-law matters.
  • Draft and send responses to communications from labour and related authorities, and represent the organization in conciliations and hearings for industrial dispute cases before labour authorities.

Experience and knowledge

  • At least 3 years of experience in Legal or Industrial Relations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Solid understanding of labour legislation and employment-related legal procedures.
  • Hands-on experience in litigation handling and stakeholder coordination.

Education and eligibility

Candidates should hold an MBA/PGDM with a specialization in HR, Personnel Management, Social Welfare, or Labour Welfare from a recognized institute, or have a law degree such as LLB, a 5-year BA LLB, BBA LLB, or B.Com LLB. Applicants must have relevant experience in managing labour-law matters.
