Position Overview
This role calls for a seasoned Lifting Superintendent to help drive major projects by making sure all lifting activities across the site are performed safely, in line with requirements, and with strong operational control. The position acts as the main technical point of contact for lifting, bringing governance, leadership, and assurance across equipment, people, procedures, and safety initiatives.
Role Purpose
- Check and validate critical lifting activities within the project scope.
- Run lifting safety assurance initiatives in line with company requirements.
- Flag concerns and provide timely feedback on risk areas.
- Support the delivery of the project’s rigging and lifting equipment integrity assurance plan.
- Put in place site-based observation and intervention practices to ensure lifting work is executed safely and effectively.
Project Context and Key Challenges
The job sits in a demanding project setting and requires active ownership of the lifting programme, audit activities, and observation/intervention systems. It also involves helping different stakeholders—such as contractors, third parties, and certification bodies—work together constructively. A strong safety-led mindset and deep knowledge of onshore lifting safety practices are essential.
Core Accountabilities
- Serve as the primary lifting discipline contact for MP/NFPS Projects and as the main liaison with Operations for all lifting matters, including equipment, personnel, and procedures in brownfield areas.
- Build and oversee a strong assurance framework for project delivery in line with the MP Lifting Code of Practice for onshore and offshore work.
- Maintain and refresh the MP Lifting Code of Practice, coordinating with internal and external parties to improve and align lifting requirements.
- Support project management teams with allocation, selection, and recruitment of lifting resources, and formally approve lifting resource recruitment for onshore projects.
- Assist PMTs with risk screening and formal risk assessments for critical lifting work in both greenfield and brownfield environments.
- Set up and manage effective communication channels to share lessons learned and proven practices across project teams.
- Standardize onboarding processes for lifting resources to improve compliance, consistency, and efficiency.
- Maintain a reliable reporting system for lifting operations, identify trends and weaknesses, and recommend improvements and corrective actions.
- Evaluate complex technical issues using a risk-based approach and ensure timely resolution of technical outputs and concerns.
- Promote lifting safety leadership, support safety culture, reinforce Life Saving Rules, and encourage continuous improvement in lifting safety performance.
Mandatory Qualifications
- OPITO LOLER Competent Person certification is required.
Experience and Knowledge Needed
- At least 10 years of experience in the lifting discipline.
- Proven background in managing lifting equipment and compliance for onshore lifting operations.
- Hands-on experience with inspection, certification, and verification of lifting equipment and appliances.
- Working knowledge of ASME, BS ISO, and LOLER standards.
- Exposure to QatarEnergy operating standards and procedures is an added advantage.
- Experience building and managing compliance and assurance systems aligned with corporate rules and international standards in lifting.
- Prior experience as a lifting subject matter expert in an oil and gas operator environment is preferred.

- Clear written and spoken communication.

- Good problem-solving and follow-up discipline.
- Comfortable using standard office and professional software tools.
- Confident leadership capabilities.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
