Inventory & Logistics Lead

Role overview

A growing organization is seeking an experienced Inventory & Logistics Lead to oversee inventory movement, ordering, and retail fulfillment. This position is centered on improving supply flow and operational performance, especially within a large-format retail setting. The right person will own the logistics approach end to end while working closely with retail partners and third-party logistics providers.

Key responsibilities

• Run daily logistics activities spanning transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and order fulfillment.
• Coordinate ordering and forecasting with major retail partners, with Walmart experience strongly preferred.
• Act as a primary liaison for external buying teams and internal cross-functional stakeholders.
• Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, lower costs, and strengthen service levels.
• Collaborate with 3PL partners to keep operations running smoothly and help negotiate service agreements.
• Guide and support a small team while promoting a collaborative, results-oriented culture.

Candidate profile

• Prior experience supporting large retail accounts, especially big box retailers such as Walmart.
• Solid background in inventory control, logistics, and supply chain operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and improve operational outcomes.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working with external partners and internal teams.
• Proactive, hands-on approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Work arrangement

The role is based in the Greater Chicago Area and is described as hybrid/onsite, with final details shared during conversation.

Compensation and benefits

Base salary is listed at $70,000 to $120,000 annually. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage.
