Job overview
The Hook Up Engineer (Structural) uses established engineering knowledge to support hook-up work and solve routine project issues with moderate direction. The role focuses on reviewing options, applying standard procedures, and using technical judgment and prior experience to handle straightforward challenges. A solid understanding of business priorities, company processes, and customer needs is expected.
Key responsibilities
- Follow the company’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policy, together with the procedures defined in the management system.
- Support and provide field input during pre-engineering and pre-construction surveys.
- Examine drawings for buildability, flag issues, and coordinate their resolution.
- Review and shape the discipline scope of work, schedules, and specifications, while confirming deliverable expectations.
- Check material requisitions against project specifications before purchase or order placement.
- Prepare and release final hook-up construction work packs.
- Track scope changes and provide updates into DTCMS/CAT.
- Confirm that all drawings, materials, and procedures needed for hook-up execution are ready.
- Create hook-up task sheets and review them where required.
- Plan efficient sequencing of hook-up work and align schedules with other disciplines.
- Support resource forecasting and manpower loading activities.
- Coordinate timely availability of documentation, fabrication outputs, materials, personnel, and vendors in line with the hook-up schedule.
- Guide field teams and ensure work follows company specifications.
- Coordinate materials with yard load-out plans and offshore shipping to optimize vessel trips.
- Travel to various onshore and offshore locations to support project execution and scheduling needs.
- Monitor and report project changes and growth impacts related to hook-up activities.
- Take part in HAZID discussions and investigations of asset incidents or hazards, and share findings with the PMT and Senior HU Engineer.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, checklists, and records covering hook-up activities, observations, and outcomes.
- Provide regular progress reports to stakeholders, including milestones, issues, and plan deviations.
- Carry out hook-up work on assigned projects in accordance with schedules, procedures, and safety rules.
- Offer technical support during both planning and execution stages.
- Ensure work complies with relevant codes, standards, laws, and contract obligations.
- Contribute to project review meetings and offer input for process improvements.
- Supervise hook-up activities in line with project requirements, industry rules, and safety expectations.
- Work with stakeholders to keep hook-up activities on track and finish them on time.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to support smooth hook-up execution.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably electrical, mechanical, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 6 years of experience handling offshore hook-up work in the EPCI sector.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable standards and codes such as API, ASME, IEC, and NEC.
- Good analytical and technical troubleshooting ability for complex engineering issues.
- Leadership capability within the discipline, with the ability to support trainees and fresh engineers.
- Strong planning, coordination, and time-management skills to meet deadlines.
- Clear communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Self-driven, adaptable, and comfortable working independently or in a team.
- Safety and environmental certifications such as OSHA or HSE are an added advantage.

Additional information
This position involves travel to different onshore and offshore facilities as needed for project execution and coordination. The role is based in the Doha Metropolitan Area and is a full-time, on-site engineering position.
