Role Overview
Auckland Harbour Suites is seeking a dependable and proactive Handyperson for a full-time onsite role. The position is important for keeping the property tidy, safe, and inviting for guests and staff.
This opportunity suits someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and can help keep guest rooms, common areas, and back-of-house spaces running smoothly. The work is varied and includes regular upkeep, preventive checks, scheduled maintenance, and prompt handling of unexpected repair issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete general repair and maintenance work across guest accommodation, shared areas, and property facilities
- Coordinate with and provide support to outside contractors when needed
- Carry out the property’s preventive maintenance plan
- Maintain clear and accurate logs for daily tasks, maintenance tickets, and service timelines
Working Pattern
This role is scheduled for at least 40 hours per week, primarily from Monday to Friday, with a start time of 8:30am. There may occasionally be a need to work weekends on an ad hoc basis.
Requirements
- Prior hands-on experience in building or property maintenance is preferred, with 12 months as the ideal background though not mandatory
- Experience with painting work would be an advantage
- Ability to solve problems independently and work with minimal supervision
- Strong organisational skills and good time management
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Commitment to delivering consistently high service standards
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and public holidays
