Role Overview
This position is based at Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara in Doha, Qatar. Anantara Hotels & Resorts is a luxury hospitality brand inspired by Thai culture and built around warm, generous service. The company has grown globally since its founding in Thailand in 2001, serving guests in distinctive destinations ranging from islands and beaches to historic cities and major urban centers.
The Finance Manager is tasked with strengthening accounting discipline, financial reporting quality, and operational controls so that company assets are protected, profitability improves, and business risk is reduced. The role spans finance shared service activities such as payables, receivables, general ledger, income audit, night audit, credit oversight, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting. It also supports statutory and management reporting, encourages better processes, and leads the finance team while working closely with leaders, owners, auditors, customers, and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
Finance operations
- Direct the full set of finance shared service activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, intercompany postings, income audit, night audit, and credit management.
- Make sure transactions are captured accurately, properly supported, approved according to policy, and recorded without delay.
- Keep a close watch on daily cash, bank, revenue, receivables, payables, and balance sheet movements, then resolve issues or escalate urgent concerns when necessary.
- Close books on time at month-end and year-end, including accruals, reconciliations, intercompany balances, and required adjustments.
- Track important finance indicators, review cash flow, assess payment behavior, and flag financial risks to management.
Reporting and analysis
- Check financial reports for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with company standards.
- Prepare and review variance analysis, leadership reports, weekly finance updates, and monthly KPI presentations.
- Study revenue fluctuations, cost-saving opportunities, budget gaps, and forecast differences, then suggest corrective measures.
- Contribute to statutory, regulatory, owner, corporate, and management reporting needs.
- Use analytical tools, advanced Excel, Power BI, and financial modelling to aid forecasting, scenario planning, and decision-making.
Revenue control and reconciliations
- Review daily revenue reports carefully and correct errors promptly.
- Oversee income audit activities to ensure revenue is complete, accurate, and well documented.
- Manage daily cash and bank reconciliations and ensure mismatches are settled quickly.
- Lead daily receivables reconciliation and weekly reviews of high-risk and key balance sheet accounts.
- Handle monthly balance sheet reconciliations, with proper review, documentation, and follow-up on unresolved items.
- Work with operations, front office, sales, and other teams to settle customer account issues.
Credit and risk management
- Supervise credit facilities in line with company policy and approved procedures.
- Verify credit applications, approvals, supporting paperwork, and payment records for compliance and correctness.
- Watch credit policy adherence, customer payment trends, ageing balances, and exposure levels.
- Run weekly credit review discussions and chase overdue balances with the relevant teams.
- Recommend actions to reduce risk and improve collections while maintaining constructive customer relationships.
Internal control, compliance, and audit
- Maintain a strong control environment across all finance processes.
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies, statutory obligations, financial procedures, delegation of authority, and company standards.
- Support internal audits, external audits, self-assessments, and owner-focused financial reviews.
- Build and monitor action plans for audit observations, control issues, and self-assessment gaps.
- Carry out corrective actions and make sure audit recommendations are closed on time.
- Ensure finance records are filed correctly, archived every month, and maintained according to the Clear Desk, Clear Mind process and document retention rules.
Process improvement and automation
- Spot opportunities to streamline finance processes, strengthen controls, improve reporting efficiency, and increase team productivity.
- Introduce automation and reporting enhancements to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
- Support ongoing improvement work across finance shared services.
- Encourage standardized processes across properties and consistent use of finance policies.
Stakeholder communication
- Keep regular contact with property leadership, owners, corporate finance, auditors, customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
- Update managers and senior leaders on financial performance, risks, cash flow, and operational concerns.
- Communicate daily with stakeholders to resolve finance matters and keep operations running smoothly.
- Partner with operations on escalations, revenue matters, billing disputes, credit concerns, and cost control actions.
- Build effective relationships with owners, senior leadership, department heads, and business partners.
Team leadership and development
- Lead and support the finance team to ensure accuracy, accountability, and on-time completion of work.
- Hold weekly alignment meetings to review priorities, deadlines, open issues, and action items.
- Coach junior managers and team members on finance processes, reconciliations, reporting standards, audit requirements, and compliance practices.
- Encourage collaboration, ownership, teamwork, and continuous learning within the function.
- Address team questions, support problem-solving, and escalate major issues to the Director of Finance when needed.
Additional duties
- Assist the Director of Finance with planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, audits, owner communication, and business reviews.
- Respond to urgent calls, emails, meetings, operational requests, and management escalations as business needs arise.
- Take on any other tasks assigned by the Director of Finance or senior management.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- A professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, CIMA, or an equivalent credential is preferred.
- At least 5 to 7 years of finance experience, ideally in hospitality, shared services, or multi-property environments.
- Solid understanding of accounting standards, financial reporting, internal controls, reconciliations, audit requirements, and hotel finance operations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are mandatory; experience with Power BI, ERP systems, hotel PMS, and accounting software is an added advantage.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage several priorities across departments and properties.
