Overview

CQUniversity is looking for a Facilities Coordinator to join its Facilities Management Directorate at the Cairns campus. This continuing full-time role supports the smooth operation, maintenance, and ongoing enhancement of the Cairns and Townsville campuses. The position sits at Higher Education Worker Level 4.

The total remuneration package is $91,663 to $96,819 per year, which includes an annual salary of $77,457 to $81,814, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading.

What you'll be doing

This is a practical, hands-on role involving daily facilities and maintenance work across CQUniversity buildings in Cairns and Townsville. The successful applicant should be physically capable of meeting the demands of the role.

  • Support the coordination of routine facilities maintenance, campus infrastructure, and contractor activity.
  • Assist with general facilities operations such as office moves, room arrangements, and event setup.
  • Carry out minor maintenance work, including painting, basic repairs, and lighting tasks, while assisting trades staff when needed.
  • Maintain outdoor areas, including gardens, grounds, and other external spaces.
  • Handle fleet vehicle reservations and maintenance support, and assist with equipment deliveries.
  • Provide administrative support through invoice processing, reporting, and system updates.
  • Help maintain workplace health and safety standards and compliance practices.

What you need to bring

  • Confidence using computer systems such as Microsoft Office, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Maintenance Management Systems such as Archibus.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, battery-powered tools, grounds equipment, and ladders, along with a working knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
  • A strong customer service mindset and the ability to build positive working relationships in a facilities setting.
  • Good planning and organisational ability, with the capacity to work independently, prioritise effectively, and maintain attention to detail.
  • A current manual driver’s licence.
