Role overview

Roth Capital Partners is hiring an Equity Research Associate to join its Energy research team in Austin, Texas. The firm is a relationship-focused investment bank that serves growth companies and their investors. Along with capital markets and M&A advisory, the platform offers a broad set of services such as equity research, macroeconomic insights, sales and trading, technical analysis, derivatives strategies, and corporate access. Roth is privately held, employee-owned, and has offices across the United States.

In this role, you will support research coverage through data gathering, analysis, client support, and statistical work across industries, companies, and their securities. With training and hands-on experience, you will build the capability to analyze investment securities and help prepare and present investment recommendations.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, organize, review, and interpret data on companies and industries.
• Build and update financial models, market-tracking tools, and research databases.
• Draft research reports, updates, notes, and briefing materials.
• Respond to information requests and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Interact with management teams, participate in site visits, and attend industry events and conferences.
• Handle administrative and coordination tasks as needed.
• Take on additional duties assigned by the team.

Skills and attributes

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, self-driven, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, writing, and client-facing skills are important, along with comfort working independently with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in the finance industry.
• A bachelor’s degree is required.
• CFA Level I or above is preferred.
• Valid Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 86, and Series 87 licenses.

Tools and technical knowledge

• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office applications.
• Experience with spreadsheets, presentation tools, and research databases.
• Bloomberg experience is an advantage.
• Ability to create three-statement financial models covering the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.

Work expectations

• Must be comfortable working under tight deadlines and balancing multiple priorities.
• Flexibility to work early mornings and long hours when needed.
• Role is based on-site in Austin, Texas.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000 per year, plus an annual discretionary bonus.
