About the Role
This remote position is for a detail-focused Data Entry Operator who will help support ophthalmology research activities. The job involves preparing digital eye scans for review, converting image types, running segmentation tools, and making manual adjustments to segmentation lines where needed. Accuracy and consistency are central to the role, as the work directly supports data quality for clinical research. The position does not require programming, but it does call for comfort using specialized software, strong organization, and close attention to detail.
The schedule is flexible and will be set at the time of hiring. There is also the possibility that the assignment may be extended or moved into a continuing role depending on business needs and available funding. Although the job is remote, employees must attend onsite meetings in Madison, Wisconsin once every quarter to support coordination and team connection.
Responsibilities
- Inspect ocular image segmentation lines to confirm they are complete and accurate.
- Make manual corrections to segmentation boundaries when required.
- Prepare digital eye scans for analysis using specialized proprietary software.
- Convert image formats and run segmentation processes without any coding duties.
- Enter data into internal systems and national databases with speed and accuracy.
- Follow university rules for data confidentiality, privacy, and security.
- Organize and sort documents before data entry and analysis.
- Check metadata, images, and supporting records for quality and consistency.
- Take part in quarterly in-person meetings in Madison, WI for collaboration and training.
- Contribute to research projects by maintaining accurate records and dependable data.
Requirements
- High school diploma is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational ability.
- Clear problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Prior exposure to research, healthcare, optometry, ophthalmology, clinical, or office settings.
- Experience with clinical trials is considered an advantage.
- Ability to use proprietary image-analysis software effectively.
- Capability to work remotely and independently with limited supervision.
- Reliable internet access and an appropriate home workspace.
