Role overview
As a Customer Experience Specialist at Tesla, you’ll help shape the customer journey from the first showroom interaction through vehicle delivery. You’ll act as a front-line representative of the brand, creating an informative, memorable, and high-quality experience for both prospective and existing owners.
This position is based in Durham, NC and is focused on in-person customer engagement in a retail showroom environment. The role plays an important part in introducing customers to Tesla’s products and mission, while making the purchase and delivery process feel clear, exciting, and seamless.
What you’ll do
- Greet walk-in visitors quickly and personally so they feel welcomed and comfortable starting a conversation.
- Learn about each guest’s background, purchase goals, and expected buying timeline to build a tailored customer profile.
- Explain Tesla’s products in an engaging way, answer questions, and create customized demonstrations such as demo drives and Full Self-Driving presentations when relevant.
- Lead vehicle delivery walkthroughs that highlight important features and benefits, helping new owners feel confident and enthusiastic.
- Help maintain a healthy sales pipeline by collecting customer details, setting up test drives, and spotting highly interested buyers.
- Deliver strong service to both current and prospective owners at every interaction.
- Take on other tasks as needed to support business requirements.
What you need to bring
You should have at least 1 year of experience in customer service and/or sales, along with a demonstrated record of achieving or surpassing targets. The role calls for someone who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to communicate clearly in both written and spoken form.
A genuine interest in Tesla’s mission and innovation in personal transportation is important, as is comfort discussing EV industry developments and local incentives. You’ll also need the ability to explain technical and business-related topics in a way customers can easily understand.
Because this is a retail-facing role, you must be available for evenings, weekends, and holidays. A valid driver’s license is required.
For positions in CA, CO, HI, ID, MD, MS, NV, NC, PA, TN, UT, VA, and DC, a Motor Vehicle Salesperson License from the state DMV is required before you can participate in sales activities. For positions in AZ, GA, HI, IA, IN, NC, NJ, NM, NY, OH, PA, VT, and WA, a notary license is preferred; if notary support is needed, assistance with obtaining the license will be provided.
