Role overview

Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., the company behind the YellaWood pressure-treated pine brand, is hiring a Janitor/Custodian for its Tuscumbia, Alabama facility. This is a full-time, on-site position with competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. The job centers on keeping bathrooms, breakrooms, office spaces, walkways, and production areas clean, orderly, and safe.

Key duties

• Keep plant areas free from excess wood, trash, and other debris.
• Maintain grassed areas by mowing them and removing litter or debris.
• Sweep walkways and empty waste containers across the facility.
• Mop non-carpeted production office spaces on a weekly basis.
• Clean and replenish the breakroom twice per day, including wiping tables, counters, the microwave, and sink areas.
• Empty and clean breakroom trash bins once daily.
• Clean the restrooms in the breakroom building twice each day and clean the restroom in the treating office once a week.
• Replenish restroom paper products and soap as needed, and verify that toilets are functioning properly.
• Paint interior and exterior structures whenever directed by management.
• Handle deep-cleaning assignments and special projects as assigned.
• Keep cleaning supplies and equipment stocked and in working condition.
• Comply with all workplace health and safety requirements.

Qualifications

The company is looking for someone with honesty, the ability to work on their own, prior hands-on cleaning or janitorial experience, and familiarity with painting tasks. Applicants should know how to use cleaning chemicals and supplies safely, understand cleaning procedures and workplace safety practices, and be able to read, speak, and understand English.

Education

A high school diploma is required.
