Product Certification Auditor

Role overview

BSI is seeking a Product Certification Auditor to support product certification and assessment activities across its schemes. The role is field-based across Ireland or Northern Ireland, with regular travel and potential coverage across Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the United Kingdom.

This opportunity sits within a global standards and certification organisation with a long history of helping businesses improve quality, safety, and trust. The position is suited to professionals with experience in manufacturing, product assessment, or standards compliance, particularly in areas such as Structural Steel (EN 1090), Concrete, Aggregates, and Construction Products (CPR).

The salary is a competitive base package depending on experience, with a company car and bonus.

Key duties

• Carry out product certification assessments in different working environments and judge compliance against BSI certification schemes and Kitemark requirements.
• Draft assessment reports and communicate outcomes to clients, including the reasons for decisions and any corrective actions needed.
• Recommend certificate issue, re-issue, or withdrawal in line with policy, procedure, and required timelines.
• Own and manage nominated client accounts, supporting strong relationships, service quality, and account development.
• Where needed, lead assessment teams and ensure everyone is well briefed so service quality and teamwork remain strong.
• Share timely and accurate information with support teams, keeping client records and internal records complete and current.
• Coach less experienced colleagues and help with induction and mentoring of new team members when required.
• Plan and organise workloads efficiently to make the best use of time and maximise billable activity.
• Complete a structured onboarding programme to progress toward Lead Assessor status, based on existing knowledge, skills, experience, and scheme requirements.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and capability needed for standardised assessments and audit practice.
• Manage an assigned client portfolio according to location, qualifications, and contractual requirements.
• Contact clients, arrange site visits, plan assessments, organise travel, conduct audits, and manage reporting and results efficiently.

Candidate profile

• At least 4 years of industry experience in a product manufacturing setting, with a focus on quality management or product certification.
• A background in engineering or manufacturing is preferred.
• Prior experience in product assessment or auditing against standards is required.
• Must be willing and able to travel frequently.
• Working knowledge of quality management system auditing methods, including ISO 9001, is needed.
• Lead Auditor 9001 certification would be a strong advantage.
