Role Overview

ALFIRAS General Contracting is seeking a Civil Planning Engineer with a solid background in the construction sector, specifically with main contractor experience and a strong track record in hotel developments. The position focuses on building, tracking, and managing project timelines to support on-time delivery through robust planning, coordination, and project control practices. Advanced use of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project is essential.

Required Background

A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
You should bring at least 7 years of experience working as a Planning Engineer.
Prior UAE experience in the construction industry is mandatory.
Experience with main contractors or contracting firms is essential.
Hands-on exposure to hotel construction projects is necessary, covering the complete project cycle from structure and finishing works to MEP coordination and final handover.
Strong knowledge of scheduling, project planning, and project control practices is expected.
Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project is required.

Core Technical Experience

Ability to prepare and manage baseline programmes, recovery schedules, and short-term look-ahead plans.
Experience creating resource-loaded schedules, S-curves, manpower histograms, and cash flow forecasts.
Strong command of CPM analysis and assessment of delay impacts.
Capability to assist with Extension of Time submissions and forensic delay analysis.
Experience preparing weekly and monthly progress updates, reports, and dashboards.
Close coordination with project managers, site teams, MEP engineers, subcontractors, and consultants.
Good understanding of construction sequencing in hotel projects, including structural works, MEP integration, façade activities, and premium finishing requirements.
Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication abilities.

Key Duties

Develop, revise, and manage detailed project schedules in Primavera P6.
Track project progress and ensure it stays aligned with the approved baseline programme.
Spot delays, risks, and critical-path activities, then recommend corrective actions.
Work closely with site teams to keep activities progressing on schedule.
Prepare progress reports, S-curves, KPI dashboards, and look-ahead schedules.
Support the project management team with planning, forecasting, and allocation of resources.
Assist with contractual planning tasks such as delay analysis and EOT documentation.
Help ensure milestones and contractual deadlines are met.

This is a full-time onsite role based in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates.

Planning Engineer
