Role summary
This position serves as the lead level in the Custodial Worker series. The incumbent performs custodial duties and may direct others while working under general supervision. It differs from Custodial Worker 1 because the lead role is a regular responsibility, and it differs from Custodial Worker Supervisor 1 because that classification oversees a larger custodial team.
Responsibilities
- Operate and work with custodial tools and machines such as floor washers, buffers, and vacuums.
- Move furniture as needed to complete cleaning tasks.
- Lead or perform sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors by hand or machine.
- Sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, showers, floors, walls, and mirrors, and remove trash.
- Clean offices and other facility areas by dusting, vacuuming, shampooing carpets, washing walls and windows, emptying waste, and tidying workspaces.
- Inspect grounds for litter and minor maintenance needs.
- Maintain simple records and prepare routine reports about facility issues and supplies needed.
- Carry out light maintenance on the equipment used for custodial work.
