Role overview
This position focuses on strengthening industrial relations at the Bhuj site by aligning labour strategy with business and HR objectives. The role involves building trust across the workforce, ensuring legal compliance, and creating structured processes that support a stable and productive workplace.
Relations strategy and governance
- Contribute to the creation and execution of the industrial relations roadmap in line with site needs and HR priorities.
- Take part in governance forums and help carry out corrective actions based on audit findings and IR observations.
- Set up and run an IR help desk for the site.
Labour and union management
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with unions, shop floor employees, and contractors.
- Support or lead negotiations, bargaining discussions, and settlement processes.
- Handle labour concerns and disputes in a timely and practical manner.
Compliance and legal adherence
- Ensure full compliance with applicable labour regulations, including the Factories Act, Contract Labour Act, EPF, ESI, Bonus, Wages, and Compensation laws.
- Keep documentation complete, accurate, and ready for audits or inspections.
- Work with government departments, labour authorities, and inspectors as needed.
Contractor and workforce management
- Manage onboarding, compliance checks, and wage-related processes for contract labour.
- Review contractor records, billing support documents, and statutory compliance status.
- Assist with planning for outsourced manpower needs.
Grievance handling and discipline
- Address employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and domestic inquiry processes.
- Apply fair, consistent, and legally sound methods to resolve issues.
- Help prevent unrest, stoppages, and disputes through proactive engagement.
Analytics, audits, and reporting
- Carry out IR health checks and compliance audits.
- Prepare MIS reports, dashboards, and workforce insights for decision-making.
- Review labour and employee data to identify trends and support action planning.
Stakeholder management
- Coordinate with Business HR, Site HR, legal and compliance teams, contractors, vendors, and local administration or village bodies.
- Act as a connection point between management and the workforce.
Policy implementation and communication
- Roll out IR policies, frameworks, and compliance systems across the site.
- Conduct employee awareness sessions on labour laws, compliance responsibilities, workplace discipline, and safety.
- Promote consistent policy adoption across locations.
Qualifications
- An MBA, MSW, or postgraduate qualification in HR, Industrial Relations, or Labour Law is preferred.
- Applicants should have 8 to 12 years of relevant experience.
- Background in infrastructure, EPC, manufacturing, or energy environments is preferred.
- Experience in managing EPC partner compliance and large contract workforces will be an advantage.
