About the role
Speedy is a major UK hire specialist, offering an extensive mix of tools, specialist equipment, plant, and support services for a wide variety of jobs. The Hire Controller in Edinburgh plays a key operational and customer-facing role, making sure hire requests are managed smoothly from the initial order through to delivery and return.
What you will do
This position is based in the depot and sits at the heart of front-line sales and service. You will coordinate the full hire journey, work closely with colleagues across the depot, and help ensure customers receive the right equipment on time and are satisfied with the service provided. Day to day, the role is desk-based and involves regular coordination with stock teams, drivers, and engineers to reduce delays and keep equipment flowing efficiently.
Working pattern
The role follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 07:30 to 17:00, with 42 hours worked per week.
What you need
To succeed in this role, you should bring strong organisation, clear verbal and written communication, adaptability, and a genuine willingness to learn and grow. A full driving licence is required. Experience in the hire sector, or in a similar sales or operational environment, is also expected. You should also be able to support your team and business unit in delivering the ESG Strategy: Decade to Deliver.
