You will collaborate closely with the Head of Finance, CFO, senior leadership, and operational teams to provide technical expertise, commercial judgement, and clear financial insight that supports decision-making, governance, and overall business performance.
What you will do
- Act as the trusted deputy to the Head of Finance, ensuring leadership, support, and continuity across the finance team.
- Guide, coach, and develop finance team members so they deliver strong outcomes and continue building capability.
- Ensure monthly, interim, and annual financial reporting is completed accurately and on time.
- Support statutory, NZX, IFRS, audit, and governance reporting obligations.
- Take ownership of climate-related reporting and sustainability oversight, including risk assessment, disclosures, and reporting for the Board and Audit & Risk Committee.
- Work with senior managers and operational teams on budgets, forecasts, performance review, and decision support.
- Provide practical financial analysis, technical accounting guidance, and commercially sound recommendations.
- Improve finance processes, systems, and controls to strengthen efficiency and reduce risk.
- Assist with audit preparation, treasury matters, and insurance-related tasks as needed.
What we are looking for
- A CA, CPA, or similar professional accounting qualification.
- Strong command of financial reporting, technical accounting, and IFRS.
- Senior-level experience in reporting, accounting, commercial finance, or business partnering.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, including mentoring and developing others.
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders and influencing outcomes across the organisation.
- Well-developed analytical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A continuous-improvement approach, with experience strengthening controls, reporting, or finance processes.
- Background supporting audit activity and working with external auditors or advisors.
Preferred experience
- Experience in a listed company, large corporate, or retail environment.
- Exposure to NZX reporting requirements.
- Experience with climate-related disclosures or sustainability reporting.
- Background in professional services.
Who this role suits
