Estimation Engineer

Role Overview

An established road marking and traffic safety division is looking for an experienced Estimation Engineer to handle pricing and proposal work for projects across the UAE. The role focuses on building accurate estimates, preparing quotations, and producing commercial and technical submissions for road marking, traffic safety, highway maintenance, and infrastructure-related opportunities.

Core Duties

• Examine RFQs, tender packs, drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, and contract conditions to understand scope and requirements.
• Build detailed cost estimates and quotations for thermoplastic road marking, cold plastic systems, road studs, traffic signs, crack sealing, and other traffic safety services.
• Set competitive rates covering materials, labor, plant and equipment, subcontracted work, and indirect expenses.
• Draft commercial and technical submissions for RFQs, tenders, framework agreements, and maintenance contracts.
• Carry out quantity take-offs and productivity studies for both machine-operated and manual road marking activities.
• Request, compare, and assess pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Liaise with procurement, operations, production, and project stakeholders to support accurate costing and planning.
• Prepare rate analyses for thermoplastic application, cold plastic application, crack sealing, road stud installation, traffic sign installation, and manual hand-crew works.
• Keep pricing records current for materials, labor, equipment usage, and productivity reference data.
• Spot commercial risks, exclusions, assumptions, and possible value-engineering improvements.
• Assist business development teams with prompt pricing for client inquiries, direct quotes, and urgent RFQ requests.
• Handle several RFQs and tenders at the same time while meeting demanding submission timelines.

Relevant Project Experience

The ideal candidate should have hands-on estimation exposure in several of the following areas: thermoplastic road marking, cold plastic road marking, waterborne and solvent-based road paint, crack sealing and joint sealing, road stud supply and installation including Hoffman machine operations, traffic signs and traffic safety products, delineators, bollards and guardrails, highway maintenance contracts, manual hand-crew road marking, machine-applied road marking, framework agreements, call-off contracts, and RFQ-based commercial pricing.

Candidate Profile

This position is best suited to a civil engineer with experience in road marking and traffic safety works. Strong familiarity with UAE market pricing, productivity standards, and authority requirements is important. The successful applicant should have a track record of preparing quotations, RFQs, and tenders for road marking and traffic safety projects, along with strong commercial awareness, analytical ability, and negotiation skills. The role also requires the ability to stay effective in a fast-moving environment while managing multiple customer enquiries and tender opportunities.
