The organization emphasizes integrity, empathy, collaboration, and a supportive culture where employees can do meaningful work, grow over time, and contribute to products that help teams focus on what matters most.
About the Team
You will join the Workday AI organization, which builds and maintains advanced AI capabilities across the company’s product ecosystem. The team works in a fast-moving, cross-functional setup and supports a very large user base.
Role Overview
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer on the Evisort Engineering team, you will help develop and improve an AI-powered contract management platform. The role involves close partnership with engineering, product, design, and data science teams to deliver scalable features that improve how legal and business teams handle contracts.
Your work will contribute to the growth of AI capabilities and to building solutions that support complex business workflows for global customers.
What You Will Do
- Work with engineering, data science, product, and design partners to shape product direction, strategy, and delivery plans.
- Take part in a collaborative team culture that encourages curiosity, learning, and strong engineering discipline.
- Help teammates grow by sharing knowledge and offering mentorship.
- Own multiple areas of the platform, from development through production support, with a strong “build it and run it” mindset.
- Design and implement high-performance backend APIs and services in Python that connect microservices.
- Continuously watch, tune, and improve code and system performance.
- Create and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging practices that protect the reliability of integrations and backend services.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 8 years of experience in software engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience with a web development framework, preferably in Python or TypeScript ecosystems such as Flask, NestJS, Express, Django, or FastAPI.
- Experience owning the design, development, and operation of SaaS products in cloud environments, with AWS preferred.
- Experience working with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Exposure to LLMs and agent development.
- Understanding of modern distributed systems and event-driven architectures, including their tradeoffs.
- Working knowledge of software engineering best practices such as DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability.
- Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch or similar document stores.
- Experience using observability platforms such as Sentry and Grafana for dashboards and monitoring.
- Background in designing scalable APIs with backward compatibility in mind.
- Success working in fast-paced agile teams and across functions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort with ambiguous problems and translating them into clear solutions.
- A commitment to inclusivity, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Compensation and Flexibility
The role is based in Toronto, Canada, with a flexible work model that combines office and remote work. Team members are expected to spend at least half of each quarter in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, or partners, depending on the role. Remote “home office” employees may also come together in the office for important moments.
The posted base pay range for this position in Canada is CAD 140,000 to CAD 210,000 per year. In addition, the role may be eligible for the company bonus plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, plus annual refresh stock grants. Final compensation depends on factors such as location, experience, skills, responsibilities, and business needs.
