Role overview
Manley is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to handle end-to-end surveying and estimating work on construction projects in Drogheda, Ireland. The role centres on managing project costs, supporting delivery to budget and quality targets, and keeping commercial processes well controlled throughout the project lifecycle.
Key duties
- Take ownership of the full quantity surveying and estimating workflow.
- Track and control project costs from start to finish.
- Help build and strengthen the supply chain network.
- Work with the wider project team so delivery stays within budget and meets required quality standards.
- Manage contract administration and oversee the procurement process.
- Make sure contractual commitments are fully complied with.
- Spot commercial risks that could affect project profitability and put mitigation plans in place.
- Support and guide junior members of the quantity surveying team.
- Prepare payment applications and value reports for projects.
- Monitor costs and negotiate/agree variations as required.
- Report monthly to senior management on financial performance and cost-to-value reconciliation.
- Prepare and present cost and risk analysis.
- Ensure the business secures the best value across all project elements.
- Audit and report on subcontractor and supplier returns.
Candidate profile
- Residential project experience is preferred, though comparable construction experience will also be considered.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar Quantity Surveyor role with a main contractor.
- A bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying.
- Professional membership with a recognised institution is desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and the legislation that applies to them.
- A full, clean Irish or European driving licence.
- Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Able to manage deadlines effectively.
- Strong numeracy and computer skills.
