Role Summary

This full-time, on-site position in New York, NY will lead client work across capital advisory, GP solutions, and management consulting. The Managing Director will be responsible for originating and executing transactions and advisory mandates, including fundraising, co-investments, secondaries, restructuring, and strategic assignments. The role also involves building and sustaining relationships with alternative asset managers, family offices, and institutional investors, while partnering with senior leadership to shape offerings and grow the business.

Key Responsibilities

The role combines commercial leadership, client advisory, and team management. It includes developing and presenting advisory approaches, guiding portfolio and operational improvement efforts, and stepping into hands-on leadership for governance, fiduciary matters, and interim executive support when required. The Managing Director will lead cross-functional teams, coach junior team members, contribute to the firm’s thought leadership, and help expand the Carey Brothers & Company platform through business development and strategic partnerships.

Qualifications

Applicants should bring deep experience in alternative investments, especially private equity, venture capital, and family office advisory, along with a strong history of supporting capital formation and fundraising. The ideal candidate will have proven capability in GP solutions, co-investments, secondaries, restructuring, governance, and fiduciary work, as well as experience designing customized advisory strategies. A strong background in transaction services and M&A advisory is expected, including strategic planning, financial planning, business transformation, and portfolio operations.

In addition, the role calls for solid management consulting experience across operational improvement, organizational change, and performance enhancement for investment managers and portfolio companies. Leadership experience is important, including managing multidisciplinary teams, mentoring talent, and providing interim executive support such as fractional CFO or interim CEO/COO responsibilities. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are needed to work effectively with founders, investment managers, institutional investors, and board members, along with advanced analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving ability.
