Role Overview
This opportunity is for an accomplished finance leader to join a well-established business operating across agriculture, landscaping, and flowers. The position sits close to executive leadership and reports to the CFO, with a focus on strengthening financial control, reporting, and business support across the Middle East operations.
Finance Operations and Governance
- Take end-to-end responsibility for the finance function covering agriculture, landscaping, and flower-related activities.
- Ensure the business remains aligned with all relevant local and international financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage receivables and payables to support timely collections, accurate settlements, and strong cash flow.
- Build and enforce credit control practices that reduce risk and improve working capital.
- Maintain an accurate general ledger structure and ensure financial accounts are properly organized and reliable.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, making sure timelines and quality expectations are consistently achieved.
- Supervise accounting for fixed assets and investment property, including depreciation, capitalization, and impairment testing.
- Keep asset registers complete, current, and compliant throughout the full asset lifecycle.
Reporting and Audit
- Prepare high-quality management and statutory reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis.
- Ensure reporting output complies with accounting standards and all applicable regulatory obligations.
- Manage reporting timelines and internal review processes ahead of statutory submission deadlines.
- Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and coordinate both audit planning and execution.
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Planning
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with operational and functional stakeholders.
- Build rolling forecasts and update financial projections on an ongoing basis.
- Compare actual performance with budget and investigate variances to guide corrective action.
Business Analysis and Performance Support
- Provide meaningful financial analysis that supports business and leadership decisions.
- Track performance using key metrics and convert findings into practical recommendations for management.
Team Leadership
- Guide and develop the finance team through coaching, performance reviews, and capability building.
- Encourage collaboration, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement within the function.
Risk, Controls, and Compliance
- Design and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and preserve data accuracy.
- Maintain compliance with internal policies as well as external legal and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate audits and ensure findings are addressed and implemented effectively.
Cost Control and Efficiency
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs across operations.
- Monitor spending patterns and support initiatives that improve profitability.
Strategic Finance Support
- Contribute to long-term financial strategy and broader business planning.
- Participate in strategic assessments, investment evaluations, and risk reviews.
Systems and Process Improvement
- Manage and improve financial systems and ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Dynamics.
- Simplify finance processes to increase accuracy, efficiency, and reporting capability.
- Support system rollouts, upgrades, and digital finance initiatives.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will bring at least 10 years of progressive experience in finance management and a strong foundation in accounting, reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis. Experience from Big Four audit or consulting environments is highly valued. Advanced Excel capability and hands-on exposure to ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics are important. The role also calls for strong analytical thinking, sound judgment, proven leadership, high ethical standards, the ability to perform under pressure, and clear communication and presentation skills.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A postgraduate degree would be an added advantage. Professional credentials such as CPA, CA, or ACCA are also highly regarded.
