Role Summary
The Employee Relations Manager will oversee workplace relations, union discussions, and compliance with employment regulations. The position calls for an experienced HR leader who can manage industrial disagreements, address staff concerns, and promote a cooperative and respectful work culture. The role is also expected to strengthen employee satisfaction, support retention, and contribute to the organization’s overall performance.
Core Responsibilities
- Create and roll out HR approaches aimed at strengthening employee relations and improving workplace conditions.
- Lead discussions with trade unions, resolve staff complaints, and mediate disputes to maintain industrial peace.
- Monitor workforce sentiment, identify factors affecting retention, and introduce actions that improve satisfaction and reduce staff turnover.
- Compile in-depth reports explaining the causes of employee attrition and recommend practical corrective measures.
- Set up effective communication channels between employees and management to encourage openness and cooperation.
- Review employee feedback and workplace patterns to spot opportunities for stronger engagement and better relations.
- Make sure all activities align with labor laws and HR compliance requirements to reduce legal exposure.
- Develop trusted working relationships with both staff and leadership while resolving conflict and promoting a healthy workplace atmosphere.
Qualifications and Experience
- A master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, Psychology, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in an HR leadership or managerial role, ideally within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Solid track record in employee relations, union negotiations, and labor dispute resolution.
- Hands-on experience with workforce management and retention improvement initiatives.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Capacity to manage difficult HR matters with professionalism and discretion.
- Sound understanding of labor legislation and HR compliance.
- Ability to mediate conflicts and settle grievances effectively.
- Analytical thinking for reviewing HR data and preparing management reports.
