Role overview

As a Dispenser in a Boots store, you will be an important part of the pharmacy team, supporting the pharmacist and wider healthcare colleagues to deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.

Your day-to-day work will be in the store’s healthcare area, where you will build positive relationships with patients by listening carefully to their needs. You will welcome customers, prepare and dispense prescriptions, help ensure medicines are supplied safely, and offer guidance based on your healthcare knowledge so patients can make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.

Key duties

  • Collaborate with healthcare colleagues in the store to help manage and deliver pharmacy services.
  • Offer advice and support to patients about medicines, and direct queries to the pharmacist when needed.

  • Stay current with new in-store developments and follow operational processes accurately.
  • Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and medicines in a way that supports adherence and reduces waste.

Development and working environment

You will work with changing in-store technologies and new systems that are designed to improve traditional dispensing processes, enhance patient safety, and create more time for patient interaction. Ongoing updates and training will support the growth of your healthcare knowledge, and there are development routes into Pharmacy Technician training or progression into store leadership.

Requirements

  • You must have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2, or an equivalent qualification, or be working toward it and have completed the first year of an MPharm degree.
  • You need current, valid UK right to work. Sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Visa route is not available for this role.
