Role Overview

This paid internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in constructing scalable data systems, with an hourly rate of $20. The Data Analytics Intern will play a crucial role in supporting our team by developing and maintaining the data infrastructure essential for organizational reporting and analytics. This position provides exposure to database design, data integration, and contemporary cloud platforms. We are seeking a candidate who is technically inquisitive and enthusiastic about creating efficient, scalable data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Aid in the design and upkeep of data models that form the basis for Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Develop and refine semantic models, relationships, and calculated measures to facilitate self-service reporting capabilities.
• Compose and enhance SQL queries for extracting, transforming, and validating data used in reporting layers.
• Contribute to the creation of data pipelines that integrate information from various operational systems.
• Address ad hoc reporting and data inquiries from leadership, asset management, operations, and finance departments.
• Conduct data quality assessments and resolve discrepancies between source systems and reports.
• Assist in the establishment and maintenance of Power BI workspaces, datasets, and refresh schedules.
• Investigate best practices for optimizing report performance, data modeling, and platform scalability.

Qualifications

Required

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related academic discipline.
• Demonstrated experience with SQL and a solid understanding of relational database concepts.
• Foundational knowledge of data modeling principles.
• Familiarity with visualization tools such as Power BI or comparable platforms.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
• Proficient communication skills, with the ability to articulate data-related concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Capacity to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced work environment.

Preferred

• Exposure to DAX, Power Query, or the development of semantic models.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms or modern analytics technologies.
• Basic proficiency in Python or scripting for data-related tasks.
• An interest in data warehousing, Lakehouse architecture, or ETL/ELT methodologies.
• Previous relevant experience gained through internships, academic projects, or bootcamps.
