About the Company
AeroVect is building autonomous solutions for ground handling and changing how airlines and ground service providers manage everyday operations worldwide. The company is a Series A startup supported by leading venture capital investors across aviation and autonomous driving, and its customers include major airlines and ground handling organizations.
Role Summary
This position is the company’s first internal finance hire. The Controller will own the accounting function end to end and establish the finance foundation from scratch.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full month-end and year-end close cycle and continuously improve close speed and quality.
- Prepare financial statements in line with GAAP for board materials and investor reporting.
- Handle intercompany activity and consolidation across entities in the US, UK, and Canada.
- Oversee revenue recognition for a business that combines hardware, software, and recurring revenue streams.
- Manage hardware cost accounting, including inventory, bill of materials costing, and depreciation tracking.
- Assess, choose, and roll out a modern ERP system along with supporting finance tools such as billing, AP automation, and expense systems.
- Design automated workflows that improve reconciliations, close activities, and reporting output.
- Partner with outside tax specialists on US federal and state matters, UK and Canadian compliance, and transfer pricing.
- Administer debt facility reporting, including draw monitoring, covenant compliance, and interest calculations.
- Put in place internal controls that fit the company’s current stage and expected growth.
- Support external audit preparation and readiness activities.
- Prepare month-end close reporting packages with budget-versus-actual analysis and commentary.
Requirements
- 6 to 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including at least 2 years with a venture-backed startup.
- Background working as the only or main finance person in a company with roughly 30 to 150 employees.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge covering ASC 606 revenue recognition, inventory and hardware accounting, multi-entity consolidation, and intercompany eliminations.
- Experience with international accounting, including the US and at least one additional non-US jurisdiction.
- Ability to independently prepare investor-ready financial statements and board packages.
- Prior involvement implementing or migrating ERP systems.
- CPA certification.
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to modern, AI-native finance software such as Rillet or Ramp.
- Experience supporting a fundraising round at Series B or later, including data room preparation, investor questions, and financial due diligence.
- Experience with revenue-as-a-service models.
- Experience handling debt facilities or equipment financing.
- Background in aviation, logistics, robotics, or automation industries.
Compensation
The annual compensation range for this role is $220,000 to $270,000.
