Role overview
The Area Sales Head for Varanasi will be responsible for driving mortgage business growth across the assigned location, building a stronger customer base, strengthening channel partnerships, and improving sales performance. The role also includes close coordination with relationship managers, retail DSAs, risk teams, and management to support growth, service quality, and controlled operations.
Key result areas and supporting actions
1) Grow sales at the location and expand the customer base
- Spot growth opportunities across the area and build strategies for direct sourcing, retail DSA channel growth, and new customer acquisition to meet location targets.
- Increase mortgage lending volumes in the region by managing client databases and activating them through relationship managers.
- Strengthen engagement with important clients, improve turnaround time, and drive cross-selling to widen the customer base.
- Track lead generation and RM productivity indicators to create a strong performance-driven sales culture.
2) Review product positioning and competition to strengthen the distribution network
- Regularly study the market and competitor offerings in the location and share emerging mortgage trends and business opportunities with head office.
- Work closely with retail DSA partners and create a structured touchpoint management approach for faster customer reach.
- Run engagement initiatives and sales training sessions to improve partner capability.
- Monitor SLAs, sales efficiency, and return on investment across channels.
- Promote schemes effectively and focus sales efforts on higher-revenue products and structures.
3) Improve customer satisfaction through relationship managers
- Track client servicing metrics, design relationship marketing initiatives, and encourage RMs and channel partners to maintain strong service standards.
- Support the rollout of better processes and proven practices to improve operational productivity.
- Stay connected with key customers on a regular basis to deepen relationships and support faster business growth.
- Monitor customer complaints and service issues, and ensure corrective action is taken promptly.
4) Support risk control and operational effectiveness
- Oversee the preparation of loan proposals and documentation to support controlled operations in the location.
- Coordinate with customers and the risk team to provide the information needed to assess proposal creditworthiness.
- Prepare and share periodic MIS reports covering profits, NPAs, new customer additions, and other updates with Cluster Area Heads.
5) Lead team management and development
- Coach and develop RMs so they can improve customer acquisition, retention, support, and overall performance.
- Nominate team members for product, behavioural, and negotiation training, and encourage self-development initiatives.
Direct report: Relationship Manager
- The RM role exists to help grow the mortgages business and loan book by selling products and solutions to existing and prospective customers at targeted yields and fees through a strong distribution network.
- The RM is also expected to strengthen distribution by identifying, empanelling, and activating capable retail DSAs from open markets, while excluding corporate and national distributors.
- This role supports customer and channel acquisition through networking, local area programs, direct builder relationships, and cross-selling within group companies.
- It also focuses on building lasting customer relationships and tailoring loan structures to local market needs and preferences.
- All activity must include proper due diligence to prevent fraudulent lending and must follow internal as well as regulatory requirements.
